The Association for Computing Machinery(ACM) Students chapter of NITC was inaugurated on 30th October 2012, by Dr. Srinivas Padmanabhuni, Vice-President, ACM India. The function was presided over by Dr. S D Madhukumar, HOD, Computer Science and Engineering Department, and was attended by faculties and students across branches. The session was followed by two talksfrom the guest, on "Why ACM?" and "Software Engineering Issues for Cloud Onboarding of Applications" by Dr. Srinivas. During the first part of his talk, he elaborated on the benefits of being ACM members. He motivated the audience to be ACM members and described the countless opportunities ahead. During the latter part, he explained how Cloud Computing technology works, grows and the software engineering issues related to the same. Welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Anu Mary Chacko, Asst. Professor and Nimish Joseph, Secretary, ACM NITC Chapter delivered the Vote of Thanks. Memento was handed over to the guest by the HOD.
The student chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery was started in NIT Calicut on September 21st, 2012. NIT Calicut ACM Student chapter works closely with the Computer Science and Engineering Association, NIT Calicut in conducting technical talks, workshops, courses and programming contests. The ACM Chapter along with CSEA aims to promote the interest among students in the various fields in Computer Science and motivate them to attain higher standards in their programming and problem solving skills.
