Leslie G Valiant: Winner of the 2010 Turing Award

2010 ACM A. M. Turing Award Goes to Innovator in Machine Learning.

Les Valiant (Professor at Harvard University) opened new frontiers that transformed Learning Theory, Computational Complexity, and Parallel and Distributed Computing. Highest honor in computing awarded to innovator in machine learning.

ACM will present the Turing Award at the annual ACM Awards Banquet on June 4, 2011, in San Jose, CA.

Award Citation

For transformative contributions to the theory of computation, including the theory of probably approximately correct (PAC) learning, the complexity of enumeration and of algebraic computation, and the theory of parallel and distributed computing.
